Here you’ll find real weddings I’ve photographed across the North East and North Yorkshire, including countryside barns, coastal venues and relaxed celebrations full of personality. My style is natural and unobtrusive, capturing genuine emotion without posing or pressure.
If you’re planning your own wedding, I hope these stories help you imagine how your day could feel.
James & Sam | Judges Hotel wedding
James and Sam booked me during the Covid Pandemic, this was a blessing as their wedding was one of my favourite so far this year. Judges Hotel isn’t somewhere I get to work regularly but when I do I love it. It’s a venue that certain hit my top ten.
The weather was amazing, bright blue sky and the sun beating down. It made for some fantastic images out and about around the hotel. Which with so many areas to choose from I was a little spoilt for choice.
Mike and Jill | Rushpool Hall Wedding venue
Rushpool Hall Hotel is featuring high on my list of venue’s for this year, With wedding after wedding there. I’m becoming accustomed too the lighting in each area, there is so much natural light on offer too. Mike and Jill, like so many others where a Covid wedding, having to change their date to suit avoid the lockdowns, and restrictions.
To the main event.
Can we call the wedding ceremony the main event? With such a hectic start to the day the ceremony is as nerve wracking for me as it is for the the bride and groom. There are so many one off instances where you get one chance to make that capture. Its not like I can stop the ceremony and restage a shot! So lets start at the beginning.
James & Lucy | The Oakwood at Ryther wedding
New venues always offer fresh creativity, that’s why I love them. James and Lucy chose The Oakwood at Ryther, near Leeds, a newly converted series of barns gave a fantastic and homely backdrop to their wedding.
It’s down to the detail.
Bridal preparation is usually manic with make-up artists and hairdressers messing the room up with their errm…… make-up and hairdressy bits and bobs, unlike us neat photographers! Then there’s the children running a riot and a very stressed, nervous bride. You always feel like you’ve hitting the ground running at such a frantic pace.
As a photographer there are certain aspects of this part of the wedding day that’s on my mental capture list.
Caleb & Beth | Grinkle Park Hotel Wedding
As always Grinkle Park Hotel has remained one, if not, my most favourite wedding venue to work at. Richard, Paul, and the staff are always welcoming and accommodating. I always feel part of the staff and therefore part of the day.
Despite the power cut which plunged the whole area in to darkness for a few hours, which I must admit made the Hotel feel really, cosy and warm. Grinkle Park offers a beautiful backdrop to any wedding. There are always places to work, whether it’s raining, snowing or sunshine
Joshua and Coral | Rushpool Hall Wedding
It was so nice to be back at Rushpool Hall Hotel, for the first wedding of what seems to be a very busy 2022. Made even more perfect by capturing two people who I feel deserve to be together, Joshua and Coral, two of the most beautiful people I’ve ever worked with.
David and Cheryl | Hunley Hall Hotel Wedding
Hunley Hall hotel is the closest wedding venue to the office, I could practically walk there. I’ve also worked for the Lane family since 2014, I’ve covered weddings, numerous portraits and Claire (Cheryl’s sister) has being a regular on my workshops too.
Colin and Carol | Sneaton Castle Wedding
The more I work at Sneaton Castle the more I’m loving it. The castle gives so many different backdrops to use and like a creative paradise.
Colin and Carol chose the castle as you can almost see their home from the castle grounds. The interior is as beautiful as the outside.
Nick and Mandy | Redcar Wedding
Nick and Mandy’s wedding seemed to arrive very quickly. We always love working at the heart, we’ve known the staff there for some years, we always feel welcome. It seems that every couple we capture at the Community Heart, we manage to grab different images, Nick and Mandy even managed to sweet talk the driver of their wedding car to take them to South Gare to grab a lasting reminder of the blast furnace before they demolish.
Dale and Georgina | Stockton wedding
Stockton is a town we don’t frequent much, but when we do its always a pleasure. Dale and Georgina chose a wonderful church, St Pauls. It is a very modern, light and airy church to work in.
John and Nicola | Manor House Hotel Wedding
It’s been a while since I’ve captured a wedding at the Manor House Hotel, so it was nice to be back. The weather held out for the whole day, making for a very pleasant days wedding photography with no interruptions.
Mark & Leeanne | Blackwell Grange Wedding
Having booked Blackwell grange hotel, Mark and Leeanne had a few surprises up their sleeve. That suited us perfectly, new venues always give fresh creative aspects when capturing a wedding.
Callum and Margot | Rushpool Hall Hotel Wedding
The COVID pandemic affected many couple in many different ways, Callum and Margot had planned for a French wedding. Margot being from France it made sense. However due to the pandemic they reduced their celebrations to a their select few close family members and booked the wonderful Rushpool Hall Hotel, near Saltburn.
Hayley & Becca | Guisborough Wedding
I love photographing different weddings, Hayley’s and Becca’s certainly ticked that box. Civil partnerships are something which produce a different creative perspective, in which we are being asked to capture more and more.
Dean and Sophie | Grinkle Park Hotel Wedding
Dean and Sophie are the couple I felt most for over the past year. I was due to cover their wedding the week Mr. Johnson told us all to stay at home. Their wedding was the first of many too be cancelled throughout 2020. Finally thought after a few date changes we were at the beautiful Grinkle Park Hotel, one of my favourite wedding venues to work at. With its warm and cosy feel, its gorgeous grounds to work with, I never get bored of making memories their.
Tom & Emily | Leyburn Wedding
This was such a unique wedding to be apart of, firstly it was in the beautiful town of Leyburn. Somewhere we don’t very often get to o wedding photography and secondly the reception was on a campsite is a fantastic marquee.
The Dewing | Family Photo Shoot
It was lovely to be able to capture a family portrait, with so many different generations too. Stephen booked us to capture the arrival of his grandson. With his mum, his son, his granddaughter and his first great grandchild.
Its always nice to create these memories for people, especially as we do several set ups through the shoot. Different combinations for the family, all celebrating the same arrival. We even did a mini shoot later on with Stephens wife too.
Stewart & Samantha | Saltburn Wedding
Stewart and Samantha chose the Redcar and Cleveland Heart for their ceremony, which is always fun for us as we love working with the Redcar and Cleveland registrars. Whether it be in a hotel or the Heart its always fun.
Sam & Christina | Wedding
We have history with Sam, He was the best man at his brothers wedding which we covered a few years back. In fact some of the main shots from Kyle and Rachael’s wedding was located just on the cliff tops behind the image above.
