Mobile phones have become such a normal part of everyday life that it's almost impossible to go anywhere without somebody taking a photograph or recording a video. Weddings are certainly no exception, and over the years I've seen more and more guests wanting to capture their own little piece of the day.

I've photographed weddings at quite a few venues along the North Yorkshire coast over the years, but there's something a little different about arriving at Grand Villa Heights in Ravenscar. The views across Robin Hood's Bay are fantastic, although being perched high above the coastline also means you're rather exposed to whatever weather is coming in off the North Sea, something we were certainly reminded of during Joe and Leah's wedding!

I've photographed weddings at Gisborough Hall Hotel in Guisborough for many years now, and it's one of those venues where I always enjoy going back. Being local certainly helps because I know the area well, but it's also a venue that gives me plenty of opportunities to photograph a wedding without having to spend half the day taking the couple away from their family and friends.

I've photographed weddings all over North Yorkshire and the North East over the years, but there's always something nice about working close to home, especially when you've got places like St Leonard's Church in Loftus and the coastline around Skinningrove practically on your doorstep.
