Well this is the first blog I have wrote as Stu normally does them, but I thought it was about time I sat down and blogged the photo-shoots I did so people can see that I can get behind the camera and capture images as well .. . . OK OK so really Stu got sick of writing my blogs for me and told me I had to stop being lazy and get my shoots blogged myself so here we go.
Now its not often I do the studio shoots if I’m honest I feel more comfortable behind the computer checking the image on the screen and putting forward my suggestions while Stu shoots so when I get asked to do photo shoots I always get a little nervous a couple of hours before it.
This time was no different, when one of our top regular fashion models, Kim, emailed me and asked if I would capture some classy less-clothed photos for her partner who was serving away in Afghanistan. I knew this is out of Kim’s comfort zone as she normally does fashion modelling, I felt very privileged and pleased she had asked me out of all the fantastic photographers Kim has worked with, she felt the most comfortable with me, and trusted me enough to enquire. Kim is an outstanding model so I knew capturing the images she wanted would be effortless, she can hold her self correctly knows what expressions she needs and is confident in front of the lens so all I had to do was get the right angle and shoot away.
Hours before Kim was due to turn up I has butterflies and felt poorly as I hadn’t been very well for a few days, but when Kim arrived with two bags of outfits, a bag of make up and still with rollers in hair (sorry Kim it just had to be said), I knew I had nothing to be anxious about. I could see Kim was slightly nervous, but as always Kim turned up with a good selection of outfits and plenty of ideas, so we kicked Stu out the back pulled down the background and Kim changed into her first outfit, as always she looked stunning. I could not understand how anyone who looks like her could be concerned about showing her body. We got shooting and Kim started to relax and her confidence sparkled. She had a few outfit changes everyone looking as good as the last, the shoot lasted about an hour, during the shoot we chatted, laughed and bounced ideas off each other. When we look and the images they were classy and cheeky making the results amazing. I can definitely say there is going to be one happy man at Christmas when she sends them over.
