Stuart Brown

Though Stuart comes originally from a retail background, Discovery Photography has given him the opportunity to indulge his love of photography, and develop it into a professional career. This love of photography began from an early age with encouragement from his father, Ray Brown.

Stuart is currently undertaking commissioned work for the North York Moors National Park Authority, successfully recording events and capturing landscapes in a way that celebrates the moment. These pictures are often used in their yearly publication “Out and About”.

His landscape work has been showcased in national publications, and is his real passion. He spends many hours in the hills with Wilf, his Springer Spaniel.

From his studios in Whitby and Saltburn, North Yorkshire, Stuart runs Discovery Photography and believes that versatility is the key. He is currently undertaking fine art wedding and portrait photography of many kinds.

Stuart’s press work has been published in The Telegraph, Daily Mail and Financial Times. His work is also represented by Footprint Images and Picturenation, two stock image agencies and has proved a reliable source of images. Purestorm models is yet another souce of work for Stuart, who has been undertaking model portfolios and shoots with some of its members.

Stuart also teaches photography to individuals and communities so that others are able to find delight in capturing fantastic images.

Gillian Sanderson

- Make up artist / Creative Stylist

Gillian has worked as a beauty therapist and make up artist for 25 Years. Working in beauty salons, and in television and film as make up artist/stylist. For photography she has provided props and costumes for a diverse mixture of corporate and artisc shoots.

She has worked for clients such as Honda, Peugeot, NSPCC, Boots, Ladybird books, Next, Cow & Gate to name few. Also she has worked with actors and television personalities such as Ralph Little, Anne Marie Duff, Vernon Kay, Gloria Hunniford, Barbra Windsor and Kirsty Young.

Now living back in the north east, she provides a beauty therapy service from Rigwood House Studios and she is a valuable experienced member of the team.

Our location is very unique, we are the only photography studio within the north east and North Yorkshire to be based at a country house. This gives us a very special opportunity to do anything from traditional and contemporary studio shoots, to using the grand backdrop of the house. This can include the grand staircase, Victorian rooms, private gardens and woodlands. We can also offer lunch, afternoon tea or simply a snack all of which is home cooked!
